The opened left ventricle and aorta are normal. Two red rods project through fenestrations in the fossa ovalis. Several other 1 - 2 mm fenestrae are also seen.

History: Twenty-six year-old woman with “chronic infective nephritis”. Most likely incidental finding at autopsy.
