The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

Congratulations to Matt Slopecki who received an award from GESTE (CIHR Team on Gender considerations in knowledge transfer interventions) for 鈥淢odelling an approach to gender-conscious participatory action-oriented research and knowledge transfer favouring equality, equity and occupational/environmental health鈥.

Matt was awarded $6,000 for his project: Are workloads appropriately adjusted for strength differences between men and women? Modeling the interaction of anthropometric load and sex on the progession of fatigue during an upper limb repetitive movement task.
