The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Alana Klein has been appointed co-director of the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP). She began her three-year appointment on 1 July 2024, succeeding Professor Fr茅d茅ric M茅gret, who completed his term as co-director in June.

Professor Nandini Ramanujam was reappointed as co-director and program director for a three-year term, starting 1 July 2024.

缅北强奸鈥檚 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) is currently accepting applications for:

  • a 12-month clerkship at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA);
  • a 10-month clerkship at the International Court of Justice (ICJ);
  • a 4-month clerkship at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR).

The clerkships are due to start in September 2024.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that, on 25 November, Professor Fr茅d茅ric M茅gret received an honorary doctorate from the University of Copenhagen at a ceremony followed by a reception with Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II as special guest. Professor M茅gret had delivered his lecture associated with the award, entitled 鈥淩oaming Rights and Global Mobility,鈥 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Copenhagen the day prior.聽聽

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Marie Manikis has received the 2022 Canadian Association of Law Teachers Scholarly Paper Award. Her paper 鈥淩ecognising State Blame in Sentencing: A Communicative and Relational Framework鈥 (Cambridge Law Journal, forthcoming) won the annual competition. Aimed at recognizing the work of scholars in the first seven years of their academic appointment, this prize is awarded to the author of a paper that contributes substantially to legal literature.聽

The O鈥橞rien Graduate Fellowships were established in 2005 through a very generous gift from David O鈥橞rien for outstanding Masters or Doctoral students studying in the area of human rights and legal pluralism in the Faculty of Law, 缅北强奸. 缅北强奸鈥檚 graduate programs in law are the most extensive in Canada. Courses draw upon the civilian and common law traditions, but also include diverse legal traditions, legal theory, international law, environmental law, health law, human rights law, comparative private and public law, and air and space law.

缅北强奸鈥檚 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) is currently accepting applications for a minimum 3-month clerkship at the Supreme Court of Israel in 2022-2023.

Clerks are assigned to assist one judge with tasks such as drafting legal and administrative documents, preparing case files, and researching legal issues.

Current 缅北强奸 BCL/LLB, LLM or DCL students graduating in June 2022, and recent 缅北强奸 graduates from Fall 2019 onward may apply for these positions.

We invite prospective graduate students interested in human rights or legal pluralism to apply for an O'Brien Fellowship. This Fellowship Program is an entrance scholarship. Applicants for this scholarship must also simultaneously submit an application for admission to one of our graduate programs by the stipulated deadline. Students who are currently enrolled in the LLM or DCL program at 缅北强奸 are not eligible.
