Pearl Eliadis

Pearl Eliadis is an Associate Professor (professional) at the Max Bell School of Public Policy and teaches at the Faculty of Law. She is a practising lawyer specializing in human rights, national institutions a democratic governance and divides her time between her practice and 缅北强奸. In her law practice, Pearl has served as a senior consultant to the UN and successfully led complex, global projects with the UNDP and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She has also served in China, Ethiopia, Nepal, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Timor Leste, and has worked on human rights projects for Iraq and Afghanistan.听听

In Canada, Pearl has a decade of experience in the Ontario and federal public services and served on the advisory council to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.鈥 She has several publications on human rights, public policy and democratic governance. Her 2014 monograph, , won the Huguenot Society of Canada Award and remains a leading text on human rights commissions and tribunals in Canada.听 She is currently on the Steering Committee of the Quebec Homelessness Prevention Policy Collaborative and serves on the federal government鈥檚 Expert Committee of the Court Challenges Program.听

Pearl is deeply engaged with civil society and is a full member of 缅北强奸鈥檚 Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism. She has received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Canada 125 Commemorative medal. She was named 鈥淗uman Rights Change Maker鈥 in 2017 by Equitas and in 2024, received the Distinguished Service Award (缅北强奸, Alumni Association).鈥疉 member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Quebec Bar Association, she began her career at a national law firm. She was named president of the Quebec Bar Association鈥檚 human rights committee and continues to serve on its expert group on human rights.听
