Kevin Chan is a Global Director and Head of Public Policy, Canada at Facebook.
He is a member of the company's global public policy leadership team, and leads the platform's efforts in Canada, engaging in an ongoing dialogue with the policy community on a broad range of issues that impact the Internet sector.
A member of the 2017 Selection Board for the Canada Excellence Research Chairs, he also serves on the boards of directors of Kids Help Phone, the Canadian American Business Council, and MediaSmarts, and sits on the Dean鈥檚 Council of the Ted Rogers School of Management.
Previously, Kevin was Deputy Secretary-General of 缅北强奸 and a Non-Residential Fellow at Stanford's Center for Internet and Society. Earlier he served in executive roles in the federal public service including Director, Office of the Clerk of the Privy Council, and as a management consultant at Monitor Deloitte.
Kevin co-founded DreamCatcher Mentoring, an e-mentoring organization for northern Canadian youth, and has held visiting appointments at Simon Fraser University's School of Public Policy and its Undergraduate Semester in Dialogue. He served a term on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
Kevin has appeared before Parliamentary Committees and been a speaker at the Walrus Talks, the Economic Club of Canada, the Mansbridge Summit, the CANARIE National Summit, the IPAC Annual Conference, and the Bennett Jones Business Forum. His media appearances include CBC's The National and The Current, and CTV Morning Live and Canada AM. He has written for The Globe and Mail, The Ottawa Citizen and Huffington Post Canada.
Kevin graduated from Harvard Kennedy School, the Ivey Business School and the Royal Conservatory of Music, and is fluently bilingual. Selected an Action Canada Fellow and a CommunityShift Fellow for not-for-profit leaders, he is a recipient of the Public Service Award of Excellence, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal.
