Global Health Career Readiness Workshop Series with ThriveHire
缅北强奸 Global Health Programs is pleased to partner with to offer an online Career Readiness Workshop Series to help 缅北强奸 students learn tangible ways to translate their skills, experiences and knowledge into global health job opportunities.
The learning objective is to equip students with knowledge and resources to feel better prepared to transition into the global health workforce, and learn to effectively navigate their careers once they get there.
The program will entail three online sessions: two workshops (accompanied with materials and hands-on activities) covering various career topics, and a final networking event. Students will learn about current hiring trends, different career pathways in global public health, practical and ethical considerations in career development, salary considerations, approaches to working locally and globally, and more.
Students who attend all three sessions will earn a certificate of completion that will be documented on 缅北强奸's Co-Curricular Record (CCR) and the opportunity to enter a draw to win a free, professional CV review by ThriveHire!
Student Eligibility听
This online career readiness program is for:
- Current 缅北强奸 master听and/or undergraduate students who are registered in a degree program听focused on health (i.e. public health, health sciences) and/or international development.听
- Current 缅北强奸 master and/or undergraduate students with an interest in the听global health field.听
Workshop Session Information
Workshop听 Session 1:听 Building your global health career听
- Date & Time: Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM EDT
- This workshop will include current hiring trends, understanding career paths in the global public health and international development arenas, and tips to networking and finding mentors.
Workshop Session 2:听听Practical challenges and considerations for global health career development
- Date & Time: Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM听EST
- This workshop will include ethical dimensions to different work opportunities and how to vet for these when searching and applying to jobs, salary considerations, approaches to working locally and/or internationally, and our roles in dismantling discrimination and structural violence in global public health and international development.
- To allow more time for discussions and participant questions, this workshop will be extended to 90 minutes.
Networking Event Session 3: Moderated panel discussion with global health professionals (Registration Closed)
- Date & Time:听Thursday, January 13, 2022听from 12:00 PM to 1:30听PM EST
- This final event will feature a moderated panel discussion with global health professionals from different work environments. These individuals will speak about their career paths and lessons learned to date. This will be followed by a short Q&A session and break-out sessions where you鈥檒l have the opportunity to directly meet and network with the speakers.听
Meet the panelists:

Adil Skalli: Born and raised in Morocco, Adil Skalli is an international development professional who has worked in both North America and North Africa. Adil currently works as a Senior Project Officer at Digital Opportunity Trust, delivering digital literacy and entrepreneurial education, and enterprise development across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East & North Africa.
听
- Marin MacLeod: Marin is the Executive Director of the , a research initiative founded in 2015 at the University of Toronto鈥檚 Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, in partnership with the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. As the Executive Director, Marin leads strategic development and scale up of the Reach Alliance, including managing relationships with Reach鈥檚 global partners and broader insights community.
- : Elie Mandela is a Program Partner for Youth Engagement at the Mastercard Foundation (in the Rwandan office). Elie is a huge believer in the potential of Africa鈥檚 young people, and is on a mission to support and create programs that enable them to fulfill their potential. At the Foundation, Elie is tasked with supporting the implementation of the organization鈥檚 youth engagement strategy.
- : Jonathan is a senior policy professional with the BC Public Service. His expertise is in health sector policy and legislation, including regulatory strategy and governance in the public interest. He brings a background of cultural safety & humility to his work in health legislation, which has enabled him to build trusting relationships to move policy forward in a good way in the midst of challenging government processes, timelines and resource constraints.
- Gertrude Edna Omoro: Gertrude is a Consultant at the WHO, where she is working on a joint program that promotes assistive technologies and rehabilitation services for people living with non-communicable diseases.

Hayley Mundeva is the Founder/CEO of ThriveHire, an online career platform for Global Health. Before this, Hayley worked on global health projects in Tanzania, Malawi, Rwanda and Ethiopia. She has 2 degrees in Global Health and is a certified trainer in social entrepreneurship.
