PHIL 397* (3) Tutorial 01

* Topic for Summer 2015: Talking of Love in Renaissance Italy. This course will examine the importance of the dialogue in the Renaissance discussion on love by exploring the literary and philosophical themes of Platonic dialogues on love, the open-ended nature of the dialogue form, the relation between erotic desire and knowledge, and the differences between men and women. Site visits to Venice and other cities' gardens and villas, in particular, are planned. For specific details about course content, please consult Prof. M.
