The 缅北强奸 Digital Research Services Hub, within the Office of VPRI, is delighted to invite all 缅北强奸 researchers to a webinar on 鈥淭he First Nations Principles of OCAP庐鈥 on Thursday, November 25, 10:00 a.m. EST,聽presented by Ms. Melissa Dane, Research Officer from the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC).

The First Nations principles of OCAP庐 offer a framework for how First Nations鈥 data and information should be collected, protected, used, and shared. Standing for ownership, control, access, and possession, OCAP庐 is a tool to support strong information governance on the path to First Nations data sovereignty. Using historical and current research and data management issues, this presentation will explore the First Nations principles of OCAP庐 and First Nations data sovereignty and discuss the importance of each.

About Melissa Dane

Melissa Dane (she/her/kwe) is Anishinaabe and currently resides in Treaty 9 (Northwestern Ontario).聽 She is a Research Officer with the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) where she investigates issues of First Nations data sovereignty, specifically in relation to research data management. She has a graduate degree in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies and a passion for decolonizing research practice.聽
