Join us for a talk with Professor Miriam Cohen, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair on Human Rights, and International Reparative Justice at Université de Montréal. Dr. Cohen is the founder of the Human Rights and International Justice Laboratory, where she leads an interdisciplinary research team developing a specialized platform for the analysis of human rights jurisprudence.
Bio
Miriam Cohen is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair on Human Rights and International Reparative Justice at Université de Montréal. Dr. Cohen is the founder of the Human Rights and International Justice Laboratory, where she leads an interdisciplinary research team developing a specialized platform for the analysis of human rights jurisprudence. The project is funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Government of Quebec. She is the author of “Realizing Reparative Justice for International Crimes: From Theory to Practice” (CUP), recipient of the 2022 Scholarly Book Award of the Canadian Council on International Law and the First Prize of the Legal Competition of the Quebec Bar Foundation. She is a lawyer and accredited mediator, and has previously worked at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. She has appeared as Co-Counsel before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the Supreme Court of Canada.
