Corporate social responsibility: Due diligence and compliance with the OECD and UN principles
The Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law, the Private Justice and the Rule of Law research group, and ILA Canada invite you to a talk by Senior Wainwright Fellow Professor emerita Catherine Kessedjian (Paris II) on "Corporate social responsibility: Due diligence and compliance with the OECD and UN principles."
In the 1970s, the OECD adopted the Guidelines for Multinational enterprises. Despite the title, these guidelines are not addressed only to large corporations. In 2011, the United Nations adopted the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD added a Human Rights Chapter to the Guidelines.
In 2017, there is no doubt that business entities must engage in “responsible business conduct”. How can they achieve this? What means do they have to reach this goal? What are the consequences if they fail to respect the principles regulating responsible business conduct? These questions and more will be discussed during this workshop.
A cocktail will follow. RSVP before March 16 to lukas.vanhonnaeker [at] mail.mcgill.ca
A request for accreditation for 1.5 hours of continuing legal education for jurists will be made to a recognized provider.
