An Evening with Mi'kmaq Singer-Songwriter, Emma Stevens

Tuesday January 23rd 2024, 4:00-6:00pm, Tanna Schulich Hall听

Emma Stevens, the talented singer-songwriter from Eskasoni First Nation in Nova Scotia, who gained widespread recognition for her haunting听," will be performing live.

Her performance will showcase the beauty of the Mi'kmaw language, with a focus on the impactful lyrics that have resonated with a global audience.

Following her performance, Emma Stevens will engage in a Q&A session where attendees can learn more about her musical journey, the translation process of the Mi'kmaq lyrics, and her aspirations to release more music in her language.

This interactive session provides an opportunity for the audience to connect with Emma and gain insights into her cultural and musical experiences.

Intersections of Feminist and Indigenous Geographies: A Talk by Dr. Niiyokamigaabaw Deondre Smiles

Monday February 19th 2024, 2:00-4:00pm, Leacock #232

Dr. Smiles will present a compelling talk on the essential connections between feminist and Indigenous geographies, emphasizing their complementary nature and their significance in the resurgence of Indigenous ways of being and knowing in today's world.

A dynamic Q&A session will follow the lecture, where guests are invited to delve deeper into questions developed during Dr. Smiles' presentation. A light catered reception in the lobby outside of LEA232 will welcome guests for an informal networking and discussion.听

Join Dr. Doolittle to uncover the intersections of mathematics, education, and Indigneous knowledge in this "Unlocking Perspectives" lecture.听

Dr. Doolittle will moderate a student featuring Dane Malenfant, Gracie Diabo, Caleb Moss, and Juliann Wray as they navigate realities of Indigenous identity and STEM education.听

A catered reception will follow to celebrate PI Day: pies will be provided by Berrylicious!听
