Key Academic Dates & Other Important Dates
The Key Academic Dates found below are those approved by Senate in November 2020.
- Classes begin: Wednesday, AugustÌý31 (except for Dentistry and Medicine students – please see faculty schedules)
- Fall Reading Break: Tuesday, OctoberÌý11 and Wednesday, OctoberÌý12Ìý(some exceptions apply)
- Makeup Days: Thursday, October 13 and Friday, October 14 * â€
- Classes end: Monday, DecemberÌý5
- Study Day: Tuesday, DecemberÌý6
- Exams begin: Wednesday, DecemberÌý7
- Exams end: Wednesday, DecemberÌý21Ìý(11 days, including evening exams)

- Deadline to register for at least one course to avoid registration penalties: Sunday, August 14
- Deadline to cancel registration: Wednesday, August 31
- Add/Drop deadline: Tuesday, September 13
- Course or University Withdrawal with refund deadline: Tuesday, September 20
- Course or University Withdrawal WITHOUT REFUND deadline: Tuesday, October 25
Classes cancelled on October 3, 2022: As a result of the provincial elections, classes are cancelled on Monday,ÌýOctoberÌý3,Ìý2022 (some exceptions apply). Please refer to the relevant Important Dates entry for more information.
There are many other types of deadlines and events that you may need to be aware of (e.g., registration start and end dates, thesis deadlines, convocation dates, fee payment deadlines). These can be found on the Important Dates Search Tool.
Note about Make Up Days: On Thursday and Friday, OctoberÌý13–14, the normal Thursday & Friday schedules of course lectures, labs, and conferences will be replaced by Monday & Tuesday schedules. This means:
- Lectures/activities that would normally have occurred on Thursday Oct. 13 and Friday Oct. 14 are cancelled.
- Lectures/activities that would normally have occurred on Monday Oct. 10 (Thanksgiving Monday) will be held on Thursday Oct. 13 instead.
- Lectures/activities that would normally have occurred on Tuesday Oct. 11 (Fall Reading Break) will be held on Friday Oct. 14 instead.

The schedule patterns in this table follow the same convention as course listings in Minerva Class Schedule. Each pattern indicates the days on which a course is normally held – for example, a course with a MWF pattern isÌýheld on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

- Thanksgiving: Monday, October 10

- Exams begin: Friday, April 14
- Exams end: Friday, April 28 (11 days, including evening exams)
