Strategic Priorities

Ã山ǿ¼é’s world-class scholarly community includes over 400 Doctoral and Master's degree programs, and is recognized for excellence across the full range of academic disciplines and professions. Positioning Ã山ǿ¼é as the premiere graduate institution in North America remains the primary objective of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS). GPS will accomplish this goal by working in collaboration with other academic units, leading strategic planning initiatives and maintaining academic oversight and quality assurance for graduate education and postdoctoral training.

GPS has set a series of strategic priorities, both short-term and long-term, that build on the university’s traditional strengths and adapt and revitalize policies and procedures to the 21st century graduate environment. To that end, GPS’ objectives are to provide leadership, advocacy, and direction to aid the university to:

  • Ensure competitive financial support for students
  • Support graduate students to complete their degree in a timely manner
  • Guarantee high quality supervision for graduate students
  • Design and structure graduate programs
  • Ensure the quality of thesis review and administration
  • Improve the graduate student experience and provide professional training for both academic and non-academic careers

In an effort to further improve the student experience, GPS has partnered with Enrolment Services to offer streamlined services in a one-stop location at Service Point.
