Putting EDI in Practice: Developing Your EDI Plans for Research Teams

Wednesday, August 23, 2023 13:00to15:00

This 2 hour Intermediate level workshop is for faculty PIs who would like help with drafting an outline of their EDI plan for their research teams. The workshop will address EDI in three common areas addressed in Tri-Agency grant applications: team composition, HQP training and creating an inclusive team environment. We will discuss key questions for faculty to consider and share examples of EDI practices based on previous grant applications. Participants will be given time to reflect and write a draft outline of EDI practices they can put in place in their research teams and contexts, followed by informal discussion and exchange with each other. This workshop will be most beneficial to those who have already thought about EDI principles and issues in their disciplines and fields but would like help translating that into concrete practices they can put in place in their research teams. Participants are asked to come prepared to write, to participate in discussion and to work collaboratively with their colleagues in this workshop.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify useful EDI practices in their research projects and grant proposals
  • Have a draft outline of their EDI plans for further polishing and revision

Kindly note that registration for this workshop is FULL.
