EDKP- 454 – Honours Research Practicum (3cr) Course Outline
EDKP 454 registration restricted to students pursuing the BSc Kinesiology Honours program in U3
Scope
Supervised directed study and research leading to the development of a formal undergraduate thesis proposal.
Learning Objectives
- to obtain practical experience in a kinesiology research setting.
- to learn about research, including data collection, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
- to learn to write a scientific report.
Course requirements
- A minimum of 75 hours working in the placement setting. The Objectives, Duties and Tasks of the student during placement will be described by the supervisor on the Application Form
Procedure
- The student is responsible for securing placement. The student can ask advice from the DKPE Student Adviser in order to do so, if need be.
- The student must secure supervision from a faculty member before applying to register (see Application Form)
- An Application Form signed by the student and the supervisor must be submitted to the DKPE Student Adviser and approved by the Undergraduate Program Director before the student can register and begin the Practicum.
- The student may enroll for this course at any time of the year, including between May-August.
Evaluation
This course is letter-graded.
The grade will be based on the supervisor’s assessment of the student’s performance in each of the categories listed in the Method of Evaluation section on the Application Form.
