Remembering the Victims of the 脡cole Polytechnique Massacre

Published: 6 December 2022

On this day, 33 years ago, Canada鈥檚 deadliest femicide occurred, killing 14 women at 脡cole Polytechnique de Montr茅al. This attack is representative of violence against women that is wider spread and deeply rooted in society. December 6 was named the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, and it is observed in conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. On this day, we are reminded of both the progress we have made and what we still need to achieve. In remembrance, we at iMPACTS send our heartfelt condolences to those directly or indirectly affected by violence, and we renew our pledge to strive to address sexual violence and gender-based violence. Lastly, let us remember the names of the victims who lost their lives on this day, Genevi猫ve Bergeron; H茅l猫ne Colgan; Nathalie Croteau; Barbara Daigneault; Anne-Marie Edward; Maud Haviernick; Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz; Maryse Lagani猫re; Maryse Leclair; Anne-Marie Lemay; Sonia Pelletier; Mich猫le Richard; Annie St-Arneault; and Annie Turcotte.
