The Department of Psychiatry is inviting students and trainees who have published an addiction-related paper to apply for the 2023 Leyton Addiction Research Prize. Each year a prize of $1,000 is awarded to the trainee who has published the best addictions-related paper. The recipient of the Leyton Addiction Research Prize will be announced at Student Research Day in the spring of 2023.

Dear Colleagues,

I have sad news to share. Dr. Ken Richter passed away on March 7th 2023. He had been on leave of absence since November battling a life threatening illness. His nephews Zerah and Daniel reached out to me yesterday and let me know that he was buried in a private family ceremony on March 12th. The family was caught off guard by his sudden departure and admist their grief have been trying to organize his affairs while living outside Quebec. I have been assisting them as much as possible.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel Zigman as the new Co-Director of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development, Department of Psychiatry, effective February 1, 2023. He will be working alongside Dr. Marco Leyton, as co-directors of the program. We would also like to thank Dr. Gabriella Gobbi for her time, effort, and dedication during her mandate which ended December 1, 2022.
