Public sector health analytics capacity before and after Covid-19: A case study of manager perspectives in New Brunswick, Canada

We are thrilled to share the most recent research article "Public sector health analytics capacity before and after Covid-19: A case study of manager perspectives in New Brunswick, Canada" by Maria Lima, a fellow from the 2022-2023 cohort, in collaboration with Professor Neeru Gupta from the University of New Brunswick and James Ayles from the Government of New Brunswick, both valued partners of CAnD3.

Visualizing Daily Time Use on Housework in Canada: Persistence and Patterns

CAnD3 is pleased to share the latest visualization publication “Time Use on Housework in Canada: Persistence and Patterns” published by Kamila Kolpashnikova, Zilin Li, and Amélie Quesnel-Vallée, that presents daily time use on housework in Canada. The study enhances understanding of housework participation from a daily time-use perspective.

2022-23 CAnD3 Annual Report

The 2022-23 academic year marked the halfway point of the $2.5M Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Partnership Grant that formed CAnD3. We reflect on our successes and progress so far and look ahead to doing more to support capacity-building in data-driven decision-making.

2021-22CAnD3 Annual Report

This has been CAnD3's most engaging year yet. With the unwavering support of our partners, team members, and staff, we have welcomed a total of 52 Fellows since the start of the program. Additionally, we report on our first hybrid event and successes from our growing community of scholars, professionals, and researchers. All this represents a significant contribution to capacity building in supporting data-driven decision-making, our very core mission. We are delighted to share with you where we’ve been and where we’re going!

2020-21CAnD3 Annual Report

The 2020-2021 academic year was a period of resilience, adaptability, and growth for the CAnD3 community amid the challenges posed by the pandemic. Recognizing the critical role of data-driven decision-making in an ageing society, CAnD3 embraced its mission with renewed vigor. The program's team committed to delivering high-quality, remotely accessible training, leaning on best practices for virtual education to ensure impactful learning experiences. Fellows collaborated closely with the team, providing input that shaped the evolving program, which in turn fostered valuable partnerships and internship opportunities. With these strong foundations, CAnD3 looks ahead with optimism, eager to continue its journey toward supporting aging populations through robust, data-driven strategies.

2024 CAnD3 Shark Tank DataViz Competition

The "CAnD3 Shark Tank Competition" provided our Fellows with an exciting chance to showcase their learning in a fun, low-stakes version of the popular TV show. Each participant or group had 2-3 minutes to pitch the story behind their data visualization, which they developed in just 36 hours using skills honed during the workshop. Rising to the challenge, they delivered compelling data stories to a panel of distinguished “sharks.” See their visualizations below!
