This area covers a diverse range of technologies, species, applications and environments, ranging from the laboratory to the Macdonald Campus Farm, and both the Small and Large Animal Research Units.听 With the sequencing of genomes and proteomes now common practice, and the molecular techniques, used to obtain and analyze this information, constantly evolving, much of the research by this group of researchers involves such techniques as somatic cell nuclear transfer, transgenic disease models, and the study of the influence of the environment on genes.听 Most of these staff are also highly multidisciplinary in their research, developing themes in bioinformatics, biomedicine, stem cells, nutrient-gene interactions, diabetes, toxicology and cancer.
