Ìı

BEFORE THE TEST

Instructors are advised to give their students an introductory session on CAN-8 prior to scheduling any tests using the system.

We recommend that students visit the AMLF at least once prior to taking any test at our facility; confirming that you are able to log on to the computers andÌıCAN-8 (if applicable) will help to ensure that you don’t lose valuable time.

For tests that involve voice recordings, students are encouraged to test their microphones and record levels immediately upon arrival to ensure that there are no technical problems.

A lab attendant will be present to read out and assist in enforcing the AMLF test regulations before testing commences.

MAKEUP EXAMS, SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS, AND ACCOMMODATIONS

  • Makeup exams

Makeup tests must be arranged in advance using the AMLF reservation procedure; just as during regular testing, an instructor must be present to administer the test and invigilate.

  • Students with Learning Disabilities

If a student has a learning disability that requires special arrangements for testing, instructors should send an email to reservations.amlf [at] mcgill.ca at the start of the semester with the student’s name, ID number, and course/section.
If the instructor or language monitor is not available to supervise during the period when additional testing time is required, arrangements must be made through the Office for Students with Disabilities.

  • Course Extensions (“K†Grade)

If a student is granted an extension for course work that is to be completed at the AMLF, the instructor must send an email to reservations.amlf [at] mcgill.ca and must provide the student name, ID, course/section as well as the end date of the extension.
