Accessibility for time-based media

In order to strive for web accessibility, we must tackle accessibility on time-based media including audio and video content.

To continue our journey to make all 缅北强奸 sites accessible for everyone, it is imperative that all 缅北强奸 sites follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to provide consistent and quality content throughout our sites.

Since not all users can see video content or hear audio, this means that you need to provide users with:

  1. Text alternatives for any non-text content
  2. Alternatives for time-based media
  3. Content that can be presented in different ways
  4. Distinguishable, easy to see and hear content

Time-based media includes:

  • Audio-only content
  • Video-only content
  • Audio-video content

A large part of making sure that your time-based media is accessible for everyone is the usage of alt text and descriptions.

Section 1.2 of the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines states the following requirements:

Prerecorded audio-only

  • An alt text provides a descriptive identification
  • A text version presents equivalent information

Prerecorded video-only

  • An alt text provides a descriptive identification
  • A text version presents equivalent information or an audio track is provided

Prerecorded audio-video

  • An alt text provides a descriptive identification
  • A text description or an audio description is provided
  • Captions or sign language interpretation is provided

Check out the Web Services page for the specific requirements for certain time-based media types.
