Overview
Statistics is motivated by the need to extract information from data, quantify uncertainty, and make predictions about random phenomena. Sophisticated mathematical and probabilistic techniques and computational tools are needed to carry out this work effectively. Core areas of expertise within the field include Bayesian inference, biostatistics, computational statistics, high-dimensional data modelling, multivariate analysis, and survival analysis.聽聽聽聽
When taken with the Statistics Major Concentration, the Supplementary Minor Concentration constitutes an equivalent to the聽B.Sc聽Major in Statistics program. The combination of the two programs can lead to the 鈥淎.Stat鈥 accreditation from the Statistical Society of Canada, which is regarded as the entry level requirement for a statistician practicing in Canada.
