Overview

BIEN : Definition, history, and growth of biomechanics. Extracellular matrix structure and function. Mammalian cell architecture and function. Stress-strain relationships, viscoelasticity, poroelasticity, and biofloidic mechanics. Soft connective tissue mechanics. Skeletal tissue mechanics. Cellular and molecular biomechanics. Measurement and modelling of cell biomechanics. Mechanotransduction and mechanobiological effects on cells in cartilage and bone.
