Overview

Earth & Planetary Sciences : Traverse of a major orogenic belt (usually the Acadian and Taconic of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec). The principal tectonic units and the major igneous, depositional, metamorphic and tectonic events and processes. Interpretation of orogenic belts in terms of continental-margin evolution, the opening and closure of ocean basins, collision of island arcs and continents and the arrival of "rafted terrains".
