Commemorate National Truth and Reconciliation Day (TRC) with an Indigenous film screening

The School of Population and Global Health will be screening award-winning Bones of Crows, a psychological drama told through the eyes of Cree Matriarch, Aline Spears, as she survives Canada's residential school system to continue her family's generational fight in the face of systemic starvation, racism and sexual abuse. Bones of Crows unfolds over one hundred years with a cumulative force that propels us into the future.

Join us on Tuesday, September 26th to watch the film and engage in small-group discussions. A free, vegetarian meal catered by an Indigenous business鈥搘ill be provided to the first 40 registrants of the event.

In addition to attending the film screening, we highly encourage you to participate in Indigenous-led events this week to continue learning about and honouring the experiences of First Nations, M茅tis, and Inuit communities in Canada. While TRC marks an opportunity for learning and reflection among non-Indigenous/settler folks, we respect and acknowledge that September 30th is also a day of mourning and grief for the lives stolen and continually impacted by colonial systems and institutions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Pr. Ananya Banerjee (she/her) at ananya.banerjee [at] mcgill.ca.
