Lecture Series in Quantitative Biosciences, Fall 2013:

Pioneers in theoretical biology and biophysics.

Michael Mackey is the Joseph Morley Drake Professor of Physiology and a member of the Departments of Physics and Mathematics. Trained in physics, mathematics and physiology, he has been a long-time advocate of interdisciplinary research and education, developing the Joint Major Programmes in Physiology & Physics and Physiology & Mathematics at 缅北强奸 long before other universities realized their importance. His research is largely focused on problems involving cellular replication and maturation (especially in hematology) and the dynamics of gene regulation. Some of his work, however, has nothing to do with biology but is related to fundamental problems in the foundations of physics. He does much of his thinking about science while bike riding.

A reception will follow the lecture.
