Join guide-in-training, Jacky Farrell (Ã山ǿ¼é Science Outreach), for a Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) walk on Mount Royal. Forest Bathing helps us slow down, open our senses and follow our curiosities. What a great way to take a nourishing break, recharge and celebrate winter. This activity is part of Ã山ǿ¼é's Biodiversity Plan 2030.

For Ã山ǿ¼é students. Meet on the front steps of the Education Building (3700 McTavish St.) at 9:50Ìý²¹³¾ to check in. We’ll be leaving at 10:00 sharp.

is required by Jan. 21st. Space is limited so please register only if you can attend and please honour your commitment.

Details:

  • This session is being offered free of charge (a value of $25/person) to students by Science Outreach at Ã山ǿ¼é.
  • There will be no bathrooms on the walk so please plan ahead. There are bathrooms available in Ã山ǿ¼é's Education Building at the start of the walk.
  • Bring a water bottle filled with water, walking poles and crampons if needed (please check the on the Mount Royal site), hand/toe warmers if needed and a small waterproof mat or folding tripod stool if you have one so that you can sit at different moments. We will also have small mats to share with you if needed.
  • Dress warmly for the weather and in layers, as we'll be moving slowly and exploring the snow: we strongly recommend snow pants or other warm pants, wool sweater layered over a warm shirt, wool tuque, wool socks, warm mittens and warm boots for walking on snow and possibly ice – uphill and downhill. See the trail conditions on the Mount Royal website: for your safety, crampons are strongly recommended if it's icy.

For everyone's safety, this walk will be postponed in the case of extreme cold, freezing rain or heavy snow/rain.

Your participation will be confirmed January 22nd.
