That is a huge challenge even for experts. Arriving at a reasonable conclusion about controversial matters therefore comes down to "A Question of Evidence," which is the theme for the 2015 Lorne Trottier Public Science Symposium Series.

This year鈥檚 speakers will be

• Dr. Paul Offit, Professor of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) presenting on the vaccine "controversy";
• Dr. Kevin Folta, Professor and Chairman of the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida, on GMOs; and
• Dr. Geoffrey Kabat, Senior Epidemiologist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, on cell phones.
