Academic title(s):
Associate Professor
Department:
Mathematics and Statistics
Areas of expertise:
My research is focused on the structure and dynamics of random discrete systems, and on deviations from typicality for such structures. This broad summary encompasses problems at the interface of discrete probability, statistical physics, population genetics, combinatorial optimization, and theoretical computer science. I am currently focused on problems that fall into two broad, overlapping classes: predicting and detecting extremes in random processes; and understanding scaling behaviour and invariance principles for large random structures.
