Tunnel No. 20 is a ~225m tunnel located under Tomlinson Lane and extends from the James Administration Building to the Strathcona Anatomy and Dental Sciences Building. This tunnel provides services to more than 20 pavilions in the northeast sector of the downtown campus, including research and teaching facilities (engineering, science, medicine), a hospital, a sports complex, student residences and, in the near future, the site of the former Royal Victoria Hospital
Refurbishment or Reconstruction of Tunnel 20
Project Description & Project Scope:
This project includes all services within this tunnel. All landscaping and integration of building access will be completed by a separate project (21-039).听
The project stems from a 2019 condition assessment of Tunnel 20, which identified significant structural issues. Utilities & Energy Management also identified a increased need of services in the area (ex. steam for RVH, cooling for renovation/redevelopment projects, electricity for decarbonisation projects, etc).
