缅北强奸24 raises $2.95 million in just one day

Published: 12 March 2020

On March 11, the 缅北强奸 community rose to the challenge to make a difference on 缅北强奸24, the University鈥檚 fifth annual day of giving, by contributing $2,956,106 for causes across the University. The final tally, which comes on the strength of 5,379 donations, demonstrated the collective power of bringing people together to give what they can. It represents a new high-water mark for the annual campaign and sets another record for the largest one-day fundraiser of its kind in Canadian university history.

The 24-hour fundraiser played out mainly online through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and it has now raised over $9 million in its five-year history. This year鈥檚 campaign asked 缅北强奸 community members to imagine the difference they could make in 24 hours. Using the hashtags #缅北强奸24 and #缅北强奸Proud, 缅北强奸ians around the world built global awareness of the campaign and sparked online conversation to share their enthusiasm.

缅北强奸24 participants gave generously to support student programs, student-athletes, academic units, research initiatives, the 缅北强奸 Library and more. The campaign featured faculty and regional challenge funds as well as matching gifts from generous donors that provided additional funding when donation targets were met. New this year was a challenge fund for The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital).

鈥淲e are very grateful for the generosity of our alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends,鈥 said Principal and Vice-Chancellor Suzanne Fortier. 鈥淭he support that we receive every year during 缅北强奸24 makes a real difference to our University and to the next generation of students, while showcasing the deep loyalty and affinity our global community continues to have for 缅北强奸.鈥

This year鈥檚 campaign also saw a record number of student-led projects featured on 缅北强奸鈥檚 crowdfunding platform, Seeds of Change. Overall, teams representing 53 projects used 缅北强奸24 to raise much-needed funds to support student research in Arts and Medicine, Engineering design teams, Athletics programs, and many more initiatives.

While the bulk of the campaign participation occurred online, students, faculty and staff on 缅北强奸鈥檚 two campuses celebrated throughout the day, many decked out in their 缅北强奸24 gear. More than 200 faculty and staff ambassadors devoted their time and energy to sharing the 缅北强奸24 spirit and motivating their peers to give.

鈥淭his year鈥檚 campaign took place as the world faces many challenges and uncertainty,鈥 said Marc Weinstein, Vice-Principal, University Advancement. 鈥淏ut the 缅北强奸 community rose to the occasion with record-breaking support for our students and faculties. Our donors are helping to ensure that 缅北强奸 researchers will have the tools they need to make life-changing discoveries and that the next generation of leaders will be even better equipped to tackle the global challenges to come.鈥

All funds raised during 缅北强奸24 will also count towards Made by 缅北强奸: the Campaign for Our Third Century, the multi-year, $2-billion fundraising drive that 缅北强奸 launched last fall to support its bold ambitions as it celebrates its 200th anniversary.
