The Realities of Caregiving within the LGBTQ+ Communities

This week鈥檚 webcast features a panel discussion to recognize LGBTQ+ caregivers. Shari Brotman, PhD, is Associate Professor at the 缅北强奸 School of Social Work. Her scholarly activities focus on access and equity in the design and delivery of health and social care services to older people from marginalized communities, and their informal caregivers. Julien Rougerie is the Program Manager for the Aging Gayfully and Chosen Family programs at Fondation 脡mergence. Chlo茅 Viau is a trans woman who volunteers at Aging Gayfully. Since her transition at age 70, she struggles to be recognized as a caregiver to her mother.

The panel will discuss the particular challenges that seniors and caregivers from the LGBTQ+ communities face in accessing services and seeking out support for themselves, as well as the necessary considerations that need to be made in order to ensure that these services are made available to them.
