MathStat Graduate Student Seminar - Jan Vonk

Friday, February 17, 2017 13:00
Burnside Hall 1024/1025 (10th Floor) - Graduate Lounge, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0B9, CA

This week, Jan Vonk will be talking to us about A caveman's approach to the Langlands programme:

Apart from the paleolithic allegories most commonly associated with the philosophers of the school of Athens, Plato made some significant contributions to the number theory of our modern age. We will show how some of his geometrical musings provide us with a hands-on way to tackle a toy case of some of the most influential conjectures in contemporary number theory, due to the Canadian mathematician Langlands.

See you all there!

All graduate students are invited. As with all talks in the graduate student seminar, this talk will be accessible to all graduate students in math and stats.聽This seminar was made possible by funding from the 缅北强奸 mathematics and statistics department, PGSS, and GSAMS.
