PhD Oral Defense: Soil fertility determination in precision agriculture and bitumen residue determination in oil sand tailings by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy coupled with chemometrics

Centennial Centre CC1-163, 21111 Lakeshore Road, St Anne de Bellevue, QC, H9X 3V9, CA

PhD Oral Defense of Qianjun Gan, Department of Food Science & Agricultural Chemistry

The need for rapid and inexpensive techniques for soil fertility determination has led to the investigation of modern technologies. Infrared spectroscopy in the near-infrared region has been traditionally used, while the mid-infrared region (4000 – 400 cm-1) has been less studied. In this research, the feasibility of employing attenuated total reflectance mid-infrared (ATR-MIR) spectroscopy in soil fertility determination was studied.

Everyone in the Ã山ǿ¼é community is welcome to attend a PhD oral defense. Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our PhD candidates.
