Reappointments for Andrea Bjorklund and Frédéric Mégret
The Faculty of Law is pleased to share that Professor Andrea K. Bjorklund has been reappointed to the L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law for a seven-year term, beginning 1 July 2020, and that Professor Frédéric Mégret has been reappointed as a William Dawson Scholar for a five-year term, beginning 1 May 2020.
Professor Bjorklund is a full professor and currently the Faculty of Law’s Associate Dean (graduate studies). She is an expert in international arbitration and litigation, international trade, and international investment. Professor Bjorklund is a vice-president of the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law and a member of the Advisory Board of the Investment Treaty Forum of the British Institute for International and Comparative Law.
Professor Mégret is a full professor with expertise in international criminal justice, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and transitional justice. He held the Canada Research Chair on the Law of Human Rights and Legal Pluralism from 2006 to 2015. He is the author of Le Tribunal pénal international pour le Rwanda (Pedone, 2002) and the co-editor of the second edition of The United Nations and Human Rights: A Critical Appraisal (Oxford University Press, 2020).

About the L. Yves Fortier Chair
The L. Yves Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law (site) was created in 2009 through the generous support of Rio Tinto Alcan Inc. The Chair is named in honour of L. Yves Fortier, CC, QC, OQ, BCL’58, Canada’s former ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations and former chair of Alcan Inc. and of Norton Rose Fulbright.
