Inaugural Spiegel Sohmer Tax Policy Colloquium
The Faculty of Law and the Stikeman Chair in Tax Law are pleased to announce the creation of the Spiegel Sohmer Tax Policy Colloquium, to be hosted annually at 缅北强奸 starting this Fall 2014 term.
The Spiegel Sohmer Tax Policy Colloquium has been made possible by a generous grant from the law firm Spiegel Sohmer, for the purpose of fostering an academic community in which learning and scholarship may flourish.
This fall, in its inaugural installment, the Colloquium will return to fundamentals by critically examining the goals of taxation from a law and philosophy perspective. The Colloquium will therefore be convened jointly by Allison Christians, H. Heward Stikeman Chair in Taxation Law, and Daniel Weinstock, James 缅北强奸 Professor in the Faculty of Law and Director of the 缅北强奸 Institute for Health and Social Policy.
The Colloquium will feature five distinguished scholars who will present their current work in a classroom setting, followed by seminar discussion. Students, drawn from the Faculty of Law and the Departments of Political Science and Philosophy, will have the opportunity to engage directly with these guests and work on issues connected to taxation and distributive justice from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The presentations and discussions, although in a classroom setting, will be open to the public and all are warmly welcome to attend.
