From the Philippines to Quebec: The International Struggle against Precarious Labour and for Decent Work
Since 1989, under the amended Labour Code, labour contractualization has become rampant among business and industrial enterprises in the country. In Quebec, thousands of non-status migrants, refugee claimants, and racialized new immigrants turn to temporary placement agencies where work is readily available. Unfortunately, they experience low wages, little to no benefits, very few protections and no job security.
Join us for a panel discussion aiming听to situate the current struggle against precarious labour in the Philippines and Quebec, which will follow a mini-documentary on labour contractualization in the Philippines, panelists will discuss the struggle against precarious work.

-听Viviana Carol - a former temporary agency worker and now a community organizer of Temporary Agency Workers Association.
