Eating Popcorn like a Lawyer: A Law and Film Seminar Series
Organised in collaboration with the Sciences Po Law School, ‘Eating Popcorn like a Lawyer’ is an online seminar series that seeks to establish a continuous dialogue between the fields of law and film. For each installment we invite a prominent legal scholar to discuss and analyse their favourite film(s).
For this third seminar of our Law and Film series Prof. Séverine Dusollier will give a reading of Kelly Reichardt most recent gem: First Cow (2020). Staged in Oregon during the 1820s, the film tells a story of human relationships and goods. What is the secret ingredient for an excellent biscuit? And what are the legal implications behind a secret cookie dough? Guided by these elementary questions, prof. Dusollier will explore property and the commons against the classical background of America as land of opportunities. Come and join us!
Participants are asked to watch the film beforehand. Information on how to do so will be provided by email after registering.
