Abstract
In recent years, European state health measures have been challenged before the European Court of Human Rights under the right to private and family life, which is enshrined in article 8 of the European Human Rights Convention. This presentation will analyze how the Court鈥檚 decisions have evolved, drawing on recent cases related to women鈥檚 access to abortion and transgender individuals鈥� demands for legal gender change. It will also highlight some of the consequences of this interpretation of the Convention, which may have unintended effects on these individuals鈥� human rights.
The speaker
Ivana Isailovic is the Boulton Fellow at 缅北强奸. She previously worked at the Equality Law Clinic at Universit茅 Libre de Bruxelles on human rights issues with abortion rights activists and transgender communities. She holds a PhD from Sciences Po Law School and a Master鈥檚 degree in international law from Universit茅 Paris 1 Sorbonne. .
