Architectures of Spatial Justice
As part of the JSDLP鈥檚 annual speaker series, Professor Ipek T眉reli of the 缅北强奸 School of Architecture will give a lecture entitled 鈥淎rchitectures of Spatial Justice.鈥
Abstract
Spatial justice links social justice and physical space. The term, coined by LA-based urban geographer Edward Soja, highlights the spatial dimension of social justice. Both justice and injustice can be spatially produced and may become visible in space. Spatial justice posits that the analysis of interactions between space and society is necessary to understand social injustices and to formulate territorial policies aimed at tackling them. Prof. T眉reli鈥檚 research has recently focused on housing for spatial justice.
