Update: AGSEM TAs Approve New Collective Agreement

After several information sessions outlining the content of the proposed agreement, the Association of Graduate Students employed at 缅北强奸 (AGSEM-FNEEQ) held its general assembly online on September 30. Members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on June 30, 2018; the new agreement will end on July 31, 2023.

Negotiation update: Agreement in Principle: AGSEM Teaching Assistants

Following almost two years of negotiations between the parties, an agreement in principle was reached on July 9th in presence of the Conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labour.

The parties鈥 negotiation committees have agreed to recommend the contents of this collective agreement to their respective constituents, and to keep the details confidential until the Union has had an opportunity to share them with its members.

Negotiation update: SEU Trades & Powerhouse - Downtown and Macdonald Campus

Since the last update on January 9th, 7 full day meetings in person and 11 half day online meetings took place between SEU Union representatives for Trades and Powerhouse / Macdonald and Downtown campuses and University representatives.

On Thursday April 30th 2020, AGSEM filed the attached petition for the certification for academic support workers employed by 缅北强奸. The academic support workers in the attached list are targeted by this unionization drive.听

More flexibility & simplicity through the Flexible Work Arrangements Pilot Program

As the rollout of the Flexible Work Arrangements Pilot Program and the development of a more flexible work culture continues, I am pleased to share two developments, one of which will give all eligible employees additional flexibility and another which will simplify the request procedure for MUNACA employees.

MUNACA/PSAC Bargaining Unit Update

Following the MUNACA drive听which resulted in a new MUNACA bargaining unit, the Union filed a claim with the Tribunal Administrative du Travail (TAT)听that the expired MUNACA Collective Agreement, which had applied to the prior bargaining unit, should apply to employees now part of the new bargaining unit as of August 2, 2019, the date of the TAT鈥檚 decision.

Negotiation update: SEU Trades & Powerhouse - Downtown and Macdonald Campus

Since the last update on October 29th, six meetings have taken place between SEU Union representatives for Trades and Powerhouse / Macdonald and Downtown campuses and University representatives. The Parties continued their discussion regarding work uniforms, safety shoes and Union bulletin boards; they reached agreements on these matters on October 30th.

Negotiation update: MCLIU (Course Lecturers/Instructors)

After initial discussions in September, it was then agreed that the best way to progress towards reaching an agreement was to work on global proposals including all the elements currently in discussion, rather than discussing items individually.

Negotiation update: AGSEM Unit 1 (Teaching Assistants)

Since our last update in July, the Parties have met eight times. The meetings provided the Parties with the opportunity to express their views and their respective positions on the content of the Harassment and Discrimination provision. On October 10, the Union requested the assistance of a Conciliator from the Ministry of Labour.

Employees today are increasingly looking to their employers to provide some form of flexible work arrangement to make their work and personal lives easier to manage. 缅北强奸 is no exception to this trend. Indeed, flexible work arrangements have emerged as a significant theme of proposed action within the staff-led My Healthy Workplace Learning Communities, launched in May 2019.

Negotiation update: SEU Trades & Powerhouse - Downtown and Macdonald Campus

On September 12th, the University met with the representatives of the following three union groups: Trades (downtown), Powerhouse (downtown), and Macdonald Campus Trades and Powerhouse. These units are part of Local 800 of the Service Employees Union. Their collective agreements expired on May 31, 2019.
