Launch of HBHL-SKILLSETS: Professional development for neuroscience trainees
Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL)听emphasizes the training of highly qualified researchers, clinicians, and informaticians. This includes not only an excellence in research training, but also complementary training opportunities focused on professional skills. HBHL is proud to collaborate with SKILLSETS on a new听suite of professional development offerings specially-designed for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with an interest in neuroscience. The HBHL-SKILLSETS program is launching on February 13, with the inaugural workshop听Increasing Your Impact: Sharing neuroscience research with diverse audiences.
There is a wealth of employment opportunities, in a wide variety of fields and sectors, available for HBHL trainees following completion of graduate studies or postdoctoral experience. Employers look for strength in a variety of in addition听to technical training. The HBHL-SKILLSETS program allows trainees to develop such skills and stand out in the job market. However, the benefits of participation are not limited to the end of trainees' current studies: the HBHL-SKILLSETS programming is designed to be applicable to trainees' current research as well as personal goals.
The HBHL-SKILLSETS offerings suite includes interactive workshops, panel discussions, peer-review sessions, and opportunities for online听participation in order to increase interest and accessibility for the diverse trainee population. These activities are focused on seven themes, each representing an important area of development to complement academic training:
