Program Description
The Graduate Certificate (Gr. Cert.) in Translational Biomedical Engineering offered by the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a course-based program that emphasizes career-focused and challenging learning opportunities. Our comprehensive and innovative program offers a specialized and practical curriculum designed to equip students with advanced skills in biomedical engineering.
Unique Program Features
- This 1 year (15 credits) program comprises mandatory courses dealing with topics that are unique to the translational process in the biomedical engineering environment. Topics covered include managing intellectual property, patents and the patenting process, regulatory affairs, medical standards, quality management systems, and clinical trials.
- The program offers complementary courses that provide students with advanced training in a specialized area of biomedical engineering selected from the areas where Departmental staff have significant expertise;
- In terms of admission requirements, those with undergraduate degrees in sciences, engineering, and economics are encouraged to apply, no prior work experience is required, and standardized tests (GMAT or GRE) are not required;
- The Department is internationally recognized for its excellence in research and education;
- Graduates pursue careers in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology Research & Development, Clinical Trials, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs (QA/RA), Patents & IP, Reimbursement, Entrepreneurship.
University-Level Admission Requirements
- An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
- English-language proficiency
