Italian (M.A.)

Program Description

The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Italian (Non-Thesis) offered by the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts is a course-based program that emphasizes substantive and targeted learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in literature review, forward thinking, and the communication of complex ideas to pursue professional opportunities (or potentially continue their studies).

Keywords: Italian Renaissance, Dante, Textual Criticism, Film, Contemporary Politics and Society, Critical Theory, contemporary literature, posthumanism and ecocriticism.

Unique Program Features

  • The goal of the program is still to maintain the traditions and study of the great classics as well as to provide a window on an increasingly complex and diverse contemporary Italian culture;
  • Some courses may be taken outside the Italian Studies Department (upon approval);
  • Students may take Individual Reading Courses offered as tutorials.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
