Cell Biology (PhD)

Program Description

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell Biology offered by the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a research-intensive program that emphasizes challenging and forward-thinking learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in literature synthesis, research design, and scientific communication to pursue professional opportunities in academia or industry.

Unique Program Features

  • The Department has one of the largest and best-equipped electron microscope facilities in the world which houses four modern electron microscopes including a Tecnai F20 and a Titan Krios;
  • The program has a Harmonized Funding Policy to ensure that every graduate student in the Faculty will be paid adequately (e.g., guaranteed minimum funding package);
  • Graduates pursue careers in academic settings as well as in industry.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
