19th Annual Pow Wow

First Peoples’ House invites the Ã山ǿ¼é community to join in the celebration for our 19th Annual Pow Wow on Friday, September 20th, 2019.

Join us under the big tent to catch the Grand Entry at 11:00am on Ã山ǿ¼é’s Lower Field. It will be a full day of traditional dancing and drumming. This is an excellent opportunity to browse artisan vendors, learn about student groups, and connect with Indigenous organizations. The Pow Wow is free and open to the public!

  • 11:00 am Opening Words
  • 11:15 am Grand Entry
  • 11:30 am Inter-tribal dances + Children’s Spot Dances
  • 12:30 pm Inuit Throat Singing
  • 1:00 pm Maori Haka Dancers
  • 1:45pm Round Dance/Spot dances + Traditional Dances
  • 3:00 pm Hoop Dance Demonstration
  • 3:30 pm Gift Giveaways
  • 3:45pm Closing/Retiring of the Flags

We are proud to announce that 2019 Pow Wow has been certified as a Silver Ã山ǿ¼é Sustainable Event by the Ã山ǿ¼é Office of Sustainability. To achieve this certification, we implemented actions such as:

- Publicizing the physical accessibility features of the location

- Including voices of diverse populations in event’s content

- Choosing a caterer which is a social economy initiative
