Dr. Alayne Adams joins the 缅北强奸 Department of Family Medicine

The 缅北强奸 Department of Family Medicine is happy to announce the addition of Dr. Alayne Adams as Associate Professor (tenure-track), effective September 1, 2019.

Dr. Adams is an applied social scientist with expertise in global urban health and nutrition, health systems research and social determinants of health in Africa and South Asia. She holds a doctorate degree in Human Nutrition and Anthropology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and she has completed postdoctoral work at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

In 2004, Dr. Adams was involved in the creation of the James P. Grant School of Public Health at BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh and has pioneered many innovative pedagogic methods, as well as designed and coordinated the Master鈥檚 of Public Health program foundation courses and co-founded the Centre for Urban Equity and Health.

During her time in Bangladesh, Dr. Adams also took on the position of Senior Social Scientist at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research. There, she led research on the health care challenges associated with rapid urbanization, focusing on the needs of the urban poor and how to engage the urban private sector to improve quality and equity of access to health care.

In 2016, she became an Associate Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Global Health, especially on topics such as urbanization, gender and the environment.
