Presentation: "The Built Environment and Risk of Obesity : Evidence and Opportunities" by Tracie Barnett, PhD

Dr. Barnett obtained her PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at 缅北强奸 in 2004 and completed post-doctoral training in Health Promotion at Universit茅 de Montr茅al from 2004 until 2007 when she became Assistant Professor in the de Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. She currently holds an FRQS Senior award and is Associate Professor at INRS-Institut Armand Frappier, and Researcher at CHU Sainte-Justin Children's Hospital. Her research focuses on the influence of built and social environment on cardio-metabolic outcomes, obesity聽and related lifestyle behaviours including physical activity and sedentary pursuits. Students have published on defining and capturing meaningful settings and exposures within the community, on the relations between neighbourhood features and health or behavioural outcomes, and on potential mechanisms linking neighbourhoods to obesity. Ultimately, she hopes to reduce the obesogenic potential of environments and promote healthy weight throughout the life course. Her talk will focus broadly on her program of research, ongoing studies and future directions.听
