As part of our Back to School 2023 coverage, we asked some incoming Family Medicine graduate students to share their first impressions with us. Here we meet Moustafa Laymouna.
- Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm Moustafa Laymouna, and I'm currently pursuing my PhD at the Department of Family Medicine. In August 2023, I achieved a significant milestone by submitting my initial MSc thesis, right here within the same department. I'm originally from Egypt where I earned my medical degree at the Alexandria Faculty of Medicine.
- What program will you be studying at the Department of Family Medicine? Supervisor?
I'm starting my PhD under the supervision of Professors Bertrand Lebouch茅 and Tibor Schuster.
- Why did you choose to study at 缅北强奸鈥檚 Family Medicine program?
I chose to study here due to the outstanding reputation in terms of research and education. The Department of Family Medicine aligns with my passion for healthcare improvement and is a learning environment that is diverse and inclusive. Also, I was able to transition seamlessly聽 from my MSc thesis work within the same department under the guidance of the same supervisors.
- What are your favorite things to do in Montreal?
Street running and cycling are my favorite summer activities in Montreal, but when winter hits, the treadmill becomes my good friend as I eagerly await the return of summer.
- What are your expectations for the year ahead?
More learning, intensive research work, and a strong focus on achieving academic milestones and awards.
- What are your career goals?
To become a clinician-scientist.
