Campus tree removal necessary for community鈥檚 safety

Published: 10 November 2023

In the following weeks, approximately 30 trees across the downtown campus will need to be taken down. The trees have become unstable due to various reasons and pose a potential risk to people and property.聽

Several trees have reached their end of life, showing signs of decline, while others sustained irreparable damage during the ice storm last spring. Furthermore, certain trees have been affected by diseases such the Dutch elm tree disease or fell victim to harmful insects. Some trees located within construction zones have over time started to deteriorate due to harsh site conditions.聽

Prior to the decision to remove these trees, a thorough assessment by an arborist was conducted to explore alternative solutions for their preservation. However, considering the potential danger they pose to the community, the decision was made to proceed with their removal.聽

Permits to remove the trees were requested and have been granted by the City of Montreal. 缅北强奸 recognizes the importance of trees on campus. Our team is therefore working on plans to replace the trees in the near future, although it may not always be possible to replant them in the exact same spot as the old trees.
